A quick guide to trademark registration in Russia
Q3: could you give us your quotation for trademark from
filing application up to registration in Russia?
A3: here is a quick guide to trademark registration in Russia.
Prior to filing trademark application in the territory of Russian Federation,
it is necessary to conduct search on identity and similarity in the official database of registered trademarks of Russia.
This search includes a search of Russia’s Trademark Office records – both in Latin and Cyrillic symbols – of all registered, expired, canceled or abandoned word marks similar in sight, sound or meaning.
If you already made this search, please let us get acquainted with the results. If Search Report proves to be satisfactory, we’ll skip the searching phase.
Otherwise, cost of trademark searching is:
For word marks:
250 euros – for one class of international classification of goods and service (ICSG)
50 euros – for each additional class
For combined marks (containing words and figures)
350 euros – for one class of ICSG.
50 euros – for each additional class
If the search proves that there is no obstacle to registration of your trademark, we enter 2nd phase – application filing.
Involved costs include official fees and attorney fees.
600 Euros – Registration of one trademark in 1 ICGS class (incl. official fee – 8500 rubles)
65 Euros – for each additional ICGS class (incl. official fee – 1500 rubles)
50 Euros – Claiming convention priority (if necessary)
Futher on, upon submitting the application, within a month we’ll get the priority notice.
The examination process at Russian PTO will take 6 to 9 months.
Upon receiving notification of positive decision, you’ll have to pay trademark registration and issuance of certificate – 485 Euros (incl. official fee – 10 000 rubles).
